A new media production company based in Nujio’qonik, Ktaqmkuk / Bay St. George, Newfoundland, SOONL aims to make something different. Home is something important to us; it’s not just the title of this page! We focus on rural and Indigenous storytelling — stories that often are not heard outside of our local communities.
SOONL also aims to foster the arts scene in this region by offering mentorship to youth and emerging artists. Whether we are working on documentary films, original animations or helping you bring your ideas to the screen, we will help by finding the funding and the artists and technicians with the skills to make it happen.
Our Name
Su’nl (pronounced soon-ul) is Mi’kmaw for cranberries, a name we chose in part as this berry grows in this region. Just like how one cranberry won’t make a full bottle of jam, media productions benefit from having a full crew. One person can do a lot, but a team can do more together, and our ideas can feed off of each other. So, let’s jam!
